Visible Light Transmission
The category number equates to a percentage of the VLT (Visible Light Transmission) that is, how much light the lens lets through. The higher the VLT the lighter the lens, conversely the lower the VLT the darker the tint will be, blocking more light coming through to the eye.

All Salice lenses are UV400, this means they resist the transition of harmful UV rays. Those marked with the antifog symbol have an antifog coating to reduce fogging. |
Hydro repellent lenses undergo a special process making them smoother than any other lenses. This means water and dust easily slide off the lens keeping it clean. These lenses are especially suited to outdoor sports. |
The inner surface of the lens undergoes an anti-glare treatment. This reduces the dazzle produced by light reflecting off other surfaces. The result is clearer vision and increased colour contrast. |
Polycarbonate anti-scratch rainbow lenses (RW) undergo a surface mirroring process to reduce light blinding and glare from water, snow and ice. The filtering power of the lenses is greatly enhanced. |
The RWX lens is photochromic, light adaptive with an improved enhanced technology meaning the RWX activates and fades at a faster rate using fast kinetics and colour differentiation. The RWX by NXT ranges from Category 1 to Category 3, suitable for cloudy days through to full sun. As well as this, the lens also has a subtle gloss appearance when not activated and when activated the blue mirror surfacing becomes more intense contributing to reduced glare and eye fatigue. RWX sunglasses light transmission on the non-activated lens is 74% and activated 17%. RWX goggle light transmission value on the non-activated lens is 55% and activated 12%. |
All lenses are Antifog and UV400: they stop ultraviolet radiation until 400mm. The DA: Double Antifog lens provides the same effect as double glazing, preventing fogging. |
SALICE SCIENCE have identified the need for a new generation of lenses. The IR INFRARED lens has been researched to provide unparalleled eye protection against optical radiation. At the same time as protecting the eyes against long term damage the lens also improves the clarity of vision, by controlling the blue light transmission the IR lens provides optimum contrast and sharpens visibility resulting in an enhanced visual environment. |
Salice photochromic (CRX)lenses are available in orange, smoke and brown. Once activated by the sun's rays the lenses adapt according to the weather conditions. These lenses optimise the protection against dazzling light and glare, enabling the wearer to go from shade to sun or fog to clear without impacting on the vision. CRX lenses avoid the need to keep adjusting eyewear, resulting in the wearer being able to concentrate more fully on their sport. CRX lenses allow the wearer to have one lens which will change rapidly and adapt to all weather conditions. |
When light reflects on plain surfaces (water, snow, wet roads) it breaks in to horizontal and vertical vibrations which increases the strain on the eyes. New polarised POLAR FLEX lenses absorb the light and channel it in to a single direction, removing the horizontal white light which contributes to the glare. Dazzling reflections which are ten times brighter than ordinary light distort colours, change the way we estimate depth and impair our quality of vision. Salice goggles with the Polar Flex shield are especially suitable for snow: they guarantee a glare-free vision, enhance natural colours, offer complete protection from harmful UVA, UVB and UVC rays and provide the user with long-lasting comfort. |
RWP - a fusion of technology, this lens combines four technologies into one to produce the perfect lens for sports. Polarflex absorbs light and channels it in a single direction to reduce glare. RW surface mirror treatment reduces glare, increases filtering power and has anti-scratch properties. Hydro treatment gives a super smooth surface to resist finger marks, dirt and water. Inner surface anti-glare treatment reduces light reflective dazzle and increases colour contrast. |
